Thread Facelift — The Next Best Thing to Surgery

Thread Facelift — The Next Best Thing to Surgery

Not all signs of aging can be addressed with injectables. However, if you aren’t quite ready to undergo a facelift, there’s a procedure that may be what you’re looking for: the thread facelift.

A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure in which the facial structures of the face are lifted with the help of dissolvable threads that suspend muscles and fat tissues.

As we age, our skin, muscle, and fat tend to sag due to the effects of gravity. A thread lift pulls these sagging tissues up, enabling you to look fresh and rejuvenated.

At Colorado Skin Care, Dr. Kimberly Stone often uses thread lifts to rejuvenate the face in a minimally invasive way.

What to expect from the procedure

During the procedure, Dr. Stone instructs you to lay down comfortably while she examines your face and asks you questions about what areas you want to lift and rejuvenate. Thread lifts are typically used to lift the skin around the jawline, brows, under-eyes, cheeks, and neck.

Instead of removing excess skin, Dr. Stone uses absorbable threads, which dissolve over time without leaving behind scars. She inserts these threads underneath the skin with the help of a thin tube and pulls up tissues that tend to point downward.

The results of thread lifts aren’t as dramatic as those of facelifts. However, they’re still effective at treating skin and muscle laxity. The results of a thread lift can last anywhere between one and three years.

Recovery and downtime

Unlike a traditional facelift, a thread facelift doesn’t involve scarring or downtime, and it comes with minimal swelling and pain.

Dr. Stone does the procedure on an outpatient basis by injecting a local anesthetic. Once you’re done with the procedure, you should be able to return to your usual routine.

The ideal candidate is in good health and just beginning to see the signs of aging. A thread facelift is also a good alternative for patients who can’t undergo a traditional facelift due to underlying health conditions that may increase the risks associated with surgery and general anesthesia (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnea, and obesity).
