Summer is all about sun, water, beach and fun, but let's not forget to take care of our skin. Summer skin care is definitely different from other seasons.
To know how to care for your skin, you first need to know your skin type.
By using the right skin care products for our skin we can improve its health and prolong its youthful appearance for as long as possible and at the same time protect it from the harmful action of external factors.
The main skin types are: normal skin, dry skin, oily skin and mixed skin.
When the skin of the face does not get greasy, too dry or sensitive when it comes into contact with certain cosmetics. Also normal skin does not show spots or blackheads. This type of skin is more common in younger people with a balanced metabolism. The main characteristics of this skin type are its smooth and firm appearance with very few visible pores.
What are the characteristics of dry skin?
Thin, fragile and rough skin is called dry skin. It is easily irritated, has a dull appearance and fine expression lines are present. At first glance, dry skin may look enviable: smooth, with no visible pores, but the problems it faces are different: it is easily irritated, wrinkles early and itches. This skin type is most prone to deterioration and premature aging.
Oily skin is the easiest of all to identify. This skin type has an oily appearance due to excess sebum. Immediately after washing your face, notice if your skin still has an oily appearance. If it does than you have an oily skin type. The positive aspect of this skin type is that it is the least exposed to premature aging. The negative aspects are the enlarged pores and acneic tendencies.
Mixed skin refers to the type of skin that tends to be greasy in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) and dry on the rest of the face. Mixed skin can also be acne-prone and sensitive at the same time.
Normal skin: To maintain normal skin health, sun protection and daily cleansing are necessary along with good hydration.
Dry skin due to lack of oil tends to wrinkle more easily, is very sensitive, is easily irritated when using alcohol and soap. For this reason it is necessary to avoid cosmetics containing alcohol in their composition. The causes of dry skin can also be hereditary - for example, blondes or redheads are more likely to have this type of skin - or can be due to improper care.
Choose creams or cosmetics that contain hyaluronic acid and avoid using soaps or degreasing gels if you want to restore balance to your skin's sebum production.
Oil skin: The over secretion of sebaceous glands can alter its natural pH and in these conditions, without proper care, oily skin is more exposed to infections. Make-up is also less resistant on this type of skin. Cosmetics based on salicylic acid, are best suited to keeping oily skin under control. This substance will penetrate deep into the pores, practically dissolving excess sebum.
This type of skin requires: regulation of sebaceous secretion, removal of excess sebum, hydration and preventing pore blockage.
In the case of mixed skin, things are a little different because the appearance and quality of the skin differs depending on the areas of the face, this type of skin requires differentiated care with products specific to each area.
A basic daily cleanse using a product dedicated to mixed skin type, followed by moisturising with a light cream, would be the perfect routine for a dedicated mixed skin care routine.
